Staying Positive

After my bad week, I regrouped and things have gotten better.  I'm staying positive and not beating myself up if I'm not perfect.  My journaling is still struggling though.  I have been writing down my food on paper at night, but don't ever get it plugged in on the computer.  I'm sure I'm not remembering everything too.  Why is it so hard to always keep up with the journaling?  I keep telling myself to plan the week, but I just don't ever get to that point.  My workouts continue to stay on track and be awesome, but that darn food gets me every time.  Right now, I'm okay with it because I've been focusing on staying positive.

On Sunday, my husband and I analyzed our monthly budget and this always leads to me getting super stressed, which leads me to crying.  I felt myself getting stressed, but did some deep breathing or took a break when needed.  Finally after a few hours, I went for my run.  It was the best run I've had yet, and I broke my 3 mile run time.  When I got home, no more stress and our night was awesome!  So, I'll take being more positive and feeling happy over agonizing over not journaling.

  1. Way to go, Becky! I LOVE that you used your run to help yourself to a better night after the money-stress. Great testament to how exercising helps in so many ways.

I wonder if fear is a part of why the food is tougher for you. I know that is the tougher part for me. Does the idea of keeping track stress you out?

I was worried that I would die without my "secret stashes" of food. Don't know if that's the case for you. But see if you can't try to go "hard core" for just a day. Keep track of everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. And try and make it a healthy eating day. See how that makes you feel as you open your eyes the following morning.

And congrats on your PR 3 mile!!!!!!

  2. Hey Becky, one thing I found myself doing was exactly what Rob said...stressing out about the "paperwork" and not always doing it. One thing to consider: buy one of those 2 x 3 mini pocket notebooks and keep it with you all day in a pocket (not a purse which you can walk away from, but a pocket). Eat something, book comes out, quick jotting down of food, time, qty, hunger, etc...book goes back in pocket. Then later you can transfer it to the actual spreadsheet if you want. AND CONGRATS on breaking you 3 mile run time! Way to go! My running has fallen off lately so you have inspired me to get out there today and really apply myself. Thanks for that inspiration!

  5. I know exactly how you feel about the journaling. I do the very same thing! i have decided if I bite it....I write it. And I know that the final step is that darned spread sheet. that is where I have the issue too. I write everything down and the hardest thing is getting it on the computer. Anyway Congrats on the running you inspire me!

  6. Oh, how I hate money!! Yup, that'll lead me to a hot fudge sundae if nothing else does. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! You controlled yourself with breathing and went for a run. Maybe you should get mad/worried RIGHT before a running race, since you did so well. ;-)
